Pet First Aid Course

Pet First Aid Course is a fully online training program that teaches you how to respond effectively in an animal emergency. Caring for pets in crisis is different from helping humans, largely because injured animals may bite out of fear or pain. For that reason, the course begins by showing you how to create a safe environment and how to properly restrain and handle an injured pet. If you become injured, you won’t be able to help the animal — and any pet that bites a person must be quarantined until rabies is ruled out.
Another key difference is that animals can’t explain what hurts, and their bodies function differently from ours. That’s why specialized pet‑focused training is essential.

By completing this course, you’ll learn how to:

  • Reduce a pet’s body temperature during heat stroke to prevent brain injury or death
  • Control bleeding and lower infection risk with proper bandaging
  • Relieve choking to prevent loss of consciousness
  • Safely induce vomiting in certain poisoning situations
  • Perform rescue breathing and CPR to keep a pet’s heart and lungs working until veterinary care is available
